May Akron Roundtable Prayer

Our Akron Roundtable speaker was Richard K. Vedder Professor of Economics, Ohio University whose topic was “Why College Costs Too Much and What We Can Do About It”

Here's my prayer:

Higher Power, as we consider the cost of education, we thank you for the dreamers who founded institutions, the generous who funded them, the planners that built them, and the staff, administrators and teachers that bring learning to life.

We also pause to remember all those who have paid more than we ever will, those who served their country in the armed forces, who sacrificed so that generations that follow would have the opportunities they would die for.

Now may wisdom come into our hearts,
and knowledge always be pleasant to our souls;
may prudence watch over us,
and understanding guard us all our days. Amen.

The last section is from Proverbs 2:10-11 (NRSV)
