There is a Three Cringe Minimum

Listening to Bruce Reyes-Chow at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary's 2010 Festival of Theology and Reunion I was struck by his assertion that you should cringe at least three times in worship.

As I was tallying last Sunday's cringe count, he explained that if you have a service with nothing that makes you cringe, a little uneasy, then all you have done is made a worship service that is comfortable for you, alone.

from Craig Forsyth
Wow! Cringes in worship as evidence of evangelism and hospitality to folks not exactly like us. Makes those applause breaks in worship easier to bear.

I hope your worship services are cringe worthy, and outside of church walls, you'll allow yourself to cringe as you reach out to those who are different to us but loved the same by God.
Don't Have to Be Like Us To Be For Us

John said to him, "Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him, because he was not following us." But Jesus said, "Do not stop him; for no one who does a deed of power in my name will be able soon afterward to speak evil of me. Whoever is not against us is for us. For truly I tell you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you bear the name of Christ will by no means lose the reward. - Mark 9:38-41
